3 Ways For Beginners To Keep Their Glasses Clean
There are a few things that are worth knowing about keeping your glasses in a condition that allows you to actually see out of them well, especially if you're new to wearing glasses. Here are some examples of ways to avoid common issues that make your glasses harder to see out of in general.
Use Dish Cleaner
One common issue with new glasses wearers is that their glasses get all dirty and they fail to realize that it's necessary to clean them. It's easy to forget that there's actually something between you and the world on your eyes now, after all. The tendency is going to be to try and use more traditional cleaners to keep your glasses clean, but this is a mistake since it anything with bleach, alcohol, or other harsh chemicals can take off the top layer of protection from glasses.
Instead, using something like liquid dish cleaner is ideal. It can clean away extra dirt and other materials from your eyeglasses the same way it would from a drinking glass or other glassware.
Microfiber
It's also going to be tempting to try and use whatever's lying around for wiping your glasses when this becomes necessary. The problem is, that many materials traditionally used for wiping, such as regular towels, can be too harsh for sensitive eyeglasses. Instead, you're going to want to use microfiber to dry off your glasses if you can. Microfiber is designed partly to clean incredibly sensitive surfaces such as for LCD screens. This makes it a good fit for glasses.
Air Dry
Another good approach for cleaning your glasses without causing any potential damage is to let your glasses air dry if you can. This is ideal because it will help to prevent smudging from when you move the microfiber towel up and down on the glasses. Additionally, if you don't have enough time to wait for a full air dry, there are things you can do to speed it up while at the same time avoiding smudging and streaks.
For example, you can use a hairdryer or other device to speed up the time and push away water rivulets on the glass. Additionally, if you blot with the microfiber towel, you can pick up little drops of water that haven't fully dried yet.
Your glasses are often going to be a significant investment and an important tool, so it's important to be cautious in how you clean them. You can make them so clear that you hardly notice them if you're cautious, however. For more tips, contact an eye center like Angle Eye Center.
